RYA POWERBOAT LEVEL 2 COURSE (Coastal)  -  Duration 2 days

This is our most popular course and is run over 2 days. It is designed to provide the skills and background knowledge required to safely and proficiently operate a small powerboat on coastal waters.

No prior experience is required, and a maximum number of 3 students can be catered for on any one course. Whilst more time is spent on the theoretical side than on the Level 1 course, a degree of this is carried out on the boat thus ensuring that you get more practical time on the water.

Turning a boat in its own length

The practical elements of the course are carried out in a 7.5 metre RIB (rigid hulled inflatable boat) powered by a Volvo Penta D3 160 HP inboard diesel engine and operating from Puerto Calero Marina. The boat is fully equipped with DSC VHF radio, chartplotter, GPS and echo sounder. A full complement of safety equipment is also carried onboard.

The minimum age for candidates is 12 years, and those under the age of 16 years will be issued with an endorsed certificate.

Note: Powerboat Level 2 is also the pre-requisite for the ICC (International Certificate of Competence), for which a separate application can be made to the RYA upon successful completion of the course.
